$5 Homemade Laundry Detergent! Simple, easy & cheap!

I made my first batch of homemade laundry detergent back in 2009{feels like forever-ago!} when my mom discovered it.

I personally liked it right away, because it doesn't have the overwhelmingly-strong scent that the typical store-bought brands do.

--> It also doesn't contain ingredients/toxins/chemicals that truly aren't good for our bodies!

Fast forward 11 years to my married self -->  Several months ago, I started making it again and haven't stopped! I make 5 gallons worth, which lasts us a few months.

>>Ingredients >>
*1 cup of Borax
*1/2 cup of Washing Soda
*1 bar of Zote Soap
*Water!
*5-gallon bucket/lid

>>Process>>
*Poor Borax and Washing Soda into empty, 5-gallon bucket.
*Shred bar of Zote Soap (I keep a separate cheese grater just for this in my house).
*Poor shredded soap into large pot on stove and fill with water about an inch above the soap, boil until soap is dissolved, stirring frequently.
*Poor hot, soapy-water into five gallon bucket.
*Stir contents(Borax, Washing Soda, soapy water) in bucket together until everything is blended.
*Fill the rest of the bucket up with room-temp. water, stirring throughout the process.
*Put lid on bucket and let it sit for at least 12 hours.
*Stir contents in bucket after 12 hours are up. I normally use a bbq spatula that has a long enough       handle.

>>Additional Notes>>
{}I find the ingredients at Wal-Mart, which all add up to about $10! {}I am able to get 3-4 batches of detergent from each box of Washing Soda and Borax, so the ingredients can really last a while.
{}There are recipes for dry homemade laundry detergent that I want to try soon(will post about it when I have tried it out!).

This is all I have to share for today, be on the look out for other posts this week!I haven’t been able to post as much the last two weeks because...well...life: my son had a double ear infection, I didn’t have a dryer for a week and a half because ours went out, and then to top it all off, the Corona virus 🦠 struck!

More posts coming this week{and most likely one more by the end of today}!

Here’s to healthy living!
