I did the 5k once at the end of this past July. It wasn't a terrible experience. You actually feel really good afterwards. They even have a food truck from one of the local restaurants come and sit at the end of the route, so that you can choose a healthy meal to wrap up the evening with!
I decided that I like to use that time as personal, momma-time! haha. The opportunity for a quiet, empty house is too good to pass up! I plan to start going more during the fall, when the weather starts to cool off though!
Keep scrolling for tips on running with a baby >>>>>.
1.> Make sure you hydrate your baby before and during the run. I always make sure to give J.E. water starting about 30 minutes before they leave and then I send Scott with his sippy cup of water to put in the stroller.
2.> Make sure your child is dressed in something cool. This may seem obvious, but I'm not just talking about long-sleeve clothes versus short-sleeve clothes, I'm referring to the thickness of the clothing. I have found that some of J.E.'s shirts are made of thicker/heavier material than others. Normally, I find that the easiest thing to put on him is a sleeveless onesie. It allows his skin to breathe a lot better.
3.> This is super-obvious, but make sure your baby has a fresh diaper before going on the run. The idea of my poor baby sweating and sitting in a soiled diaper makes me cringe!
4.> Make sure to at least give your child a snack before the run, that way he can have enough energy to brace the heat!
I know those tips were super-obvious, but I just felt like talking about our experience and what I have found that helps us so far!
Who else is ready for that fall weather so that we can enjoy being outside more(at least in the south!)?! I know I am!
Here's to fall weather coming sooner than expected! Have a wonderful rest-of-your-week, my friends!
