A few posts back, I talked about my exercise routine. Since then, I have added a few additional steps to my routine. I am seven months post c-section (I will explain more on why I had to have a c-section for my first child in another post soon:).
Luckily, I had no trouble at all losing my pregnancy weight. By two months post c-section I was down to my pre-pregnancy weight & now I weigh less than I did before I had the baby. I still walk with my exercise videos (Leslie Sansone- see previous “New Year’s Resolution: Part 2” post for more details), outside with John Everett, or on the treadmill multiple times a week. Due to the fact that keeping off body fat is not an issue, I am switching my focus.
I am struggling more with strengthening my core muscles. Since my first baby was delivered via c-section, I have no idea what it's like to have a natural-birth recovery.
I've heard that c-sections are much harder to bounce back from. I am a living testimony to that. Ever since my c-section, I have had digestion issues (bloating etc.. TMI I know lol). I'm hoping that muscle strengthening will help prevent some of those digestion issues-along with adjustments to my diet.
I bought a set of five-pound weights and have been using them everyday(Yes, with the price tags on them lol). I do a series of post-partum accommodating/core-strengthening exercises with these. I stick to doing about four total.
I follow the ab workouts recommended by Kristy Ardo on her instagram. She puts several post-partum workouts on her instagram, but I specifically follow most of the routine found in her video linked HERE. I do a select few of these moves two-three times a day/5-6Xs a week. For the exercises where Kristy Aldo holds her baby, I use my weights (pictured above) instead.
I’m not sure if this post was encouraging as much as it was just simply informative. My c-section recovery process has impacted my workout routine greatly (coming from someone who has never stuck to an ab workout routine faithfully). I will keep you all updated! Feel free to share your own core-strengthening workouts below! I would love to know what works for you!
