Dessert For Breakfast(& I didn’t feel guilty;)!

Happy Monday!

Today I wanted to share with you the most amazing product or cooking ingredient that I discovered this weekend... it is a natural sweetener, is sugar-free, and adds delight to smoothies and oatmeal.

This lovely powder that I stumbled upon is called “Cacao”. Yes, that’s right: CACAO. No, that’s not a typo... I’m not referring to Cocoa. It’s CACAO. Unlike myself, maybe you have heard of this delicious sweetener.

When compared to Cocoa, Cacao has many more health benefits and is the preferred sweetener among many seeking a healthy diet that excludes the processed/sugar-filled snacks.

I’ve got a sweet tooth, and since I’ve started my diet, I’ve been staying away from “bad” sugars(candies, cakes..etc.). But everyone needs something sweet every now and then ... right? So I did a little pinteresting(probably not a real word;) this weekend and discovered CACOA.

I eat plain (no sugars etc.) oatmeal every morning.  Normally with a dash of cinnamon for some flavor  and a few almonds sprinkled on top to add a crunch. I usually eat them warm, too.

I was looking to add some variation to my morning "ritual," if you will..I came across a recipe for overnight oats on Pinterest and had to try it!  I’ll put the recipe below and leave you with my opinion: The oatmeal turned out delicious... I love the natural, sweet, chocolatey(probably not a word either, but you get the picture;)  flavor the Cacao gives the oats. I also don’t mind the oatmeal cold either... it’s like eating dessert for breakfast... only, you don’t have that guilty feeling from overindulging like I do after eating an unhealthy dessert!

Chocolate Overnight Oats:

  1. One cup of plain oats.
  2. One cup of almond milk (or any milk that you prefer).
  3. 2-3 TBSP of CACOA.
  4. Mix in container & cover.
  5. Store in fridge overnight.
  6. Stir again in morning & ENJOY! :)
**Make oats to the consistency of your liking. Add desired amount of milk/oats/cacao.

Until next time...
