Someone Turns 1 (photo shoot pictures + birth story included)!

John Everett turned 1 on July 25! I can’t believe how fast the year went by... his Birthday brought back memories of the day we had him and made us think back to our first few months with him..and what it was like adapting to little John Everett and the changes he brought to our lives: The sleepless nights, healing from my c-section..etc.

J.E.’s Birthday was celebrated over the span of a week... the days were plentiful with presents, J.E.’s first time eating pizza and devouring chocolate cake; running a 5k with his Mommy and Daddy, his one-year old photo shoot, and his first salon haircut.

Scroll down if you want to see pictures from his Birthday and 1-year old photo shoot! Scroll down below that if you want to read his birth story(his delivery took a turn that we didn’t expect, I'll say that!).

Birth Story:

You see, I’ve always wanted a big family. I’ve always wanted to have a house full of kids running around! Fast forward to my 35(ish) week ultrasound appointment for J.E. My husband and I walk into the ultra sound room, I sit down in the dark room, wobble onto the chair and lay my head back onto the cold, leather chair as the ultrasound tech preps my belly.  You see, the purpose of this appointment was to see the position of the baby, to determine whether or not he was breech.

My doctor had told me that his position at this point of the pregnancy wouldn’t change... so if he was head-up then he’d stay that way and vice verse. As the technician scrambled the camera over my belly she abruptly said, “Whelp, looks like the baby’s bottom is down here,” as she pointed towards the bottom of the screen...”Looks like he is breech.” My heart immediately sank and started beating so fast... faster than its ever done before. I was devastated... how could I have eight children after having a C-section... after having my insides(uterus)cut open?

..and why would God allow anything to get in the way or lessen my chances of having a big family? It took a while for my husband and I to accept the fact that I would have to have a C-section... that this was indeed God’s will for our family and His will is indeed what’s best for us. I’ve since learned that I can have a V-back for my next pregnancy and the remaining ones after.

It was important that I allowed my body time to heal after having the C-section though, in order that I might have a V-back for the next pregnancy. I am just grateful that God enabled John to be safely brought into this world- no matter the type of delivery. What a glorious and life changing day that was. Grateful is an understatement for the healthy life of that precious, baby boy I get to call MINE!
